    Linda Furiate

Hometown: I don't necessarily claim a hometown since I grew up with a father in the military. I lived in Germany for many years as a young child. When he retired we moved to Massillon, Ohio, where I spent my teenage years and where most of my family now lives.
Family: a 16-year-old son, Chris, and three kitties Tiger, Squeaky, and Boo
Overcoming Adversity: Cervical Dystonia, a neurological movement disorder that affects the neck muscles. Also known as spasmodic torticollis, it can be a very debilitating condition, often painful and currently has no cure. The condition causes severe muscle spasms and turning of the head to a point where one cannot hold up their head. After living with this condition for a few years, barely leaving my house on many days, I developed an exercise/physical therapy program that has allowed me to eliminate nearly 100% of my symptoms. It took me about one year to develop and another year to fully heal my body. My goal now is to work with others who have this same condition and help them eliminate the severe muscles spasms associated with spasmodic torticollis.
Education: Studied at the University of Maryland while in the US Air Force stationed in northern Japan. Presently, I work with people as a consultant and mentor to help them overcome the adversities and challenges that life has presented them.
Hobbies: Astrology, writing, reading, and learning.
Favorite Quotes: "The meaning of life is not found in what we have, it is found in what we endure." -- Linda Furiate
Role models: Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, my parents, and my Grandmother.
Goals: To be the best person I can be and share a part of myself with those around me. Also, my goal is to never stop learning and growing as long as I live.
Greatest accomplishment: Learning to understand who I am as a person and accepting this role and gift. I truly believe once an individual is able to know who he or she may be and understands why God placed them on this earth at this time, in this body and with this experience, he or she is then truly able to live the gift of life given by the Creator.
Describe the work you do to help others:
Helping people understand why they are experiencing adversity and help mentor them through this period of their lives so when the adversity disappears the insightful lessons miraculously appear.
