TESTIMONIALS
The October Focus On Healing, Focus on You event at The Retreat part of Goshen Medical Center was an overwhelming success. Sherry Lebed Davis, keynote speaker, author and founder of The Lebed Method presented two, hour-long sessions on her therapeutic dance/exercise class for cancer survivors.
Both sessions were filled to capacity, and participants laughed, danced, relaxed, and most importantly, forgot about cancer for the moment. It was a celebration of women, life and health. Lebed Davis was the invited guest of Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, Breast Surgeon and Breast Disease Specialist, and Medical Director of The Retreat.
Attendees stayed after for Lebed-Davis' book signing, and had many questions. Nearly 300 attended the Focus On Healing event, which was centered around Lebed-Davis and supported by a mini health-fair, health screenings, and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) samplings.
The typical health fair/seminar generates around 50 - 70 attendees. Although this was done on a weekday - as opposed to an evening or weekend, women from a 4-county area attended this event.
The local media covered the event, most importantly leading to a main story in the area's largest newspaper's health section. -- Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, Medical Director, Women's Health Services, Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, Indiana University
Focus on Healing was an inspirational program for all types of cancer survivors. Laughter was in the air and you couid see the healing behind all the smiling faces. The night ended too soon. Many people wanted to continue to enjoy Sherry and each other. The interest was immediate to start a program at Loma Linda. -- Paula Johnson, Clinical Program Coordinator at the Loma Linda University Cancer Institute
Sherry LeBed Davis gave a delightful presentation at the "Circle of Hope Lymphedema Foundation's National Conference" in March of 2003. Focus On Healing Through Movement And Dance, "The Lebed Method" was a big success at the conference. Patients and therapists called me after the conference to inquire more about Sherry and her presentation. They expressed great interest in the program.
Sherry's presentation was comprehensive, educational and most of all "Fun"! I was very impressed with Sherry's enthusiasm, support and positive approach to getting everyone moving and enjoying every minute of it. Many Lymphedema patients were moving more than they ever thought they could. With "Happy Music" and "Blowing Bubbles" we performed exercises and dance movements in a very gentle way.
Sherry, through her "Lebed Method" gave everyone an elevated self esteem and a more positive body image. We were able to take our minds off of our pain and limitations and enjoy the music and feel the movement! This program decreases depression and creates empowerment!
Anyone with limited mobility or suffering from debilitating illnesses would get benefit from Sherry's program. I highly recommend "Focus on Healing" to everyone who wants to enrich their lives and live their life to the fullest! I was so impressed that I want to become a certified instructor in the Lebed Method! Sherry gave me something I can do but most of all she shared her beautiful spirit and zest for life! -- Jeanne B. Tassis, President and Founder, Circle of Hope Lymphedema Foundation, Inc.
